The Files API reserves the OpenAI-compatible upload route for reusable creative assets.

Upload from an image URL

POST /upload

The upload contract accepts a public image URL as JSON:

The route accepts HTTP and HTTPS image URLs. It rejects data URIs and binary uploads.

Until file storage is enabled, a valid URL request returns:
